Korbee released their brand new single, Show Me The Way, this week, and it’s pleasing to hear how far the duo have come in such a short space of time.
Having featured their track The Great Escape as a song of the week recently I was excited to hear their new first new release in almost two years. The band stay true to their sound but it has definitely progressed since their first EP. The instrumentation, melodies and textures in Show Me The Way relate closely with the lyrical theme to create a fantastic and relatable soundscape. It begins with much darker undertone, created by the aggressive bass tone and small space reverb, to portray the sinful theme of corrupted greed and desire. This provides great contrast for the chorus to really erupt into life: queue the big open space, soaring vocal melodies and string ensemble accompaniment that Korbee do so brilliantly. This helps to convey hope and a reassurance that it can get better.
A really great track with an excellently executed concept fuelled with emotion. Definitely worth a listen.
