Most Anticipated Albums Of 2016
After an exciting 2015 of music, we’re beginning to look forward to 2016, and the incredible albums that lie ahead!
Steven Wilson – 4 1/2
Following the remarkable Hands. Cannot. Erase. released in 2015, Wilson is releasing 5 tracks originating from the recording sessions of the previous 2 records. If the tracks are anything like the albums they didn’t make it on to, then I think we’re in for a treat with these!
According to Mark Tremonti, the band will enter the studio for a couple of months, beginning in January, to start writing and recording a new album. Then, following tours with their various side projects, look to have the album released by the end of the year! Alter Bridge have never released an album I haven’t loved, so this is particularly exciting for me!
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Another band that never fail to disappoint and with Flea saying that instrumentally, the new album is very emotional, I’m excited to see a deeper side to the Chillis, hopefully with some more tracks of a similar ilk to Under The Bridge!
I couldn’t praise her promotional single “Where is The Mercy” enough, and for such a talented artist, I can’t wait to hear more from her.
No word on this one yet but; they have a new drummer; it’s been two years since the release of their hit/miss album Hail To The King; and they’re a band I’ve grown up enjoying so I’d be excited to hear what they come up with this time.
Bury Tomorrow – EarthBound
They’re a band that, for me, have always promised so much, and yet just fallen short of the mark on their albums so far. However, I was blown away by how impressive the title track from the upcoming album is, and with its release due in January, I’m excited and hopeful that they can finally deliver.
Stone Sour – No Sleep ‘Till Burbank
The Burbank Trilogy by Stone Sour may be all covers, but they are some fantastic covers. I may actually prefer some to the originals, and they’re really fun! With the upcoming EP set to feature a Rage Against The Machine cover, the anticipation is almost too much too bare!
Kirk Hammett came forward in October to confirm the metal giants were writing their follow-up to 2008’s Death Magnetic. I was ridiculously excited for that album before it came out and, despite my fondness of the band diminishing slightly, I’m incredibly excited for this one too! As part of their new fan club launch, footage was revealed of Hetfield in the studio with his famous snakepit guitar! Very excited to see if they’ve still got it.
Wolfmother – Victorious
They’re one of those bands that are pretty out there, people either love them or hate. Personally, I’m a big fan, have been since their brilliant first album; they’re so passionate in all of their songs, and with great variety of songs. The lead single Victorious is excellent, and I’m keen for more the same from the album!
Black Stone Cherry – Kentucky
They released the lead single from this album one a couple of weeks ago, and listened far too many times since then; too excited! It sounds like more of a return to the first album, and while I’d still like more of a balance, like on Folklore And Superstition, at least the change suggests there’ll be a bit less White Trash Millionaire.
